FatMob Privacy Policy

FatMob is an unofficial companion app for MAN v FAT Football, built and maintained by George Taylor as an independent fan project. This page describes what data the app collects, what's stored, and what isn't.

Short version

FatMob doesn't have user accounts, doesn't track you, and doesn't share data with third parties. The only thing stored on a server is an opaque push-notification token, and only if you choose to follow a club.

What's collected

Push notification subscriptions (only if you opt in)

If you tap the bell icon to follow a club, the app sends two pieces of data to the FatMob API:

  • An Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token — a long opaque identifier issued by Apple that lets the server send a push to your device.
  • The club slug (e.g. basingstoke) you've chosen to follow.

These are stored together so the server knows which devices to notify when standings change. Unfollowing a club, or uninstalling the app, removes the subscription.

The APNs token is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, phone number, or any other identifier. It is not used for analytics or advertising.

Location (only when you ask)

The app uses your device's location only when you tap "Find Nearby Clubs". Location is used on-device to sort the club list by distance and is not transmitted to the FatMob API or any third party. You can decline or revoke location access in iOS Settings at any time without affecting the rest of the app.

What's stored on your device only

  • The slug and name of the club you're currently viewing (so the app remembers your selection between launches).
  • The list of clubs you follow (so the bell icon stays in sync).

These are stored in standard iOS preferences and never leave your device unless you've subscribed to notifications, in which case the followed slugs are mirrored on the server as described above.

What's not collected

  • No name, email, phone number, password, or other account information.
  • No advertising identifier (IDFA).
  • No analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry SDKs.
  • No third-party trackers.

Data sharing

FatMob does not sell, rent, or share data with third parties.

The app fetches public information (club standings, fixtures, scorers, losers) from the MAN v FAT Football website via the FatMob API. No personally identifying request data is sent in those fetches beyond a standard HTTPS request from your device to the API.

Where data is stored

The FatMob API runs on Cloudflare Workers with a Cloudflare D1 database. Subscription rows live there until you unfollow the club or uninstall the app and the APNs token becomes invalid.

Your choices

  • Stop notifications: tap the bell on a club to unfollow, or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings → Notifications → FatMob.
  • Stop location use: revoke permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → FatMob.
  • Delete everything: uninstall the app. Apple invalidates the APNs token; the server discards expired tokens during normal sending.

Children

FatMob is not directed at children under 13. The app contains no advertising and collects no personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date at the top will change and the new policy will be live at this URL before the change takes effect.
